MWD - Side Pot Rules

GENERAL RULES ABOUT THE SIDE POTS: Any eligible person who wishes to enter a side pot has the option of physically running in that side pot or, if they have entered in the Open, may carry their time over from the Open to the side pot without physically re-running. Both entry fees must be paid to carry over a time. If the rider chooses to carry over, they must declare so BEFORE they run in the Open. After a rider has run they may not change their declaration. If no declaration of a carry over is made prior to their run, they will be required to run again or will receive a No Time. Entries in the side pots will close with the first runner in that respective side pot (example: the Senior side pot entries close when the first Senior runs).

Futurity

Open to all horses 5 years old or younger that are in their first year of competition. Any horse that has competed prior to this competition year, regardless of age, is ineligible. The age of the horse must be proven at entry by either a copy of the horses papers OR a vet certificate verifying age. Entry Fee is $35 per day. 4D pay out. No money added. $12 held out for office. NO MEMBER ATTENDANCE WILL BE GIVEN FOR THIS RACE. If the horse is not a member, the $5 non-member fee will be required (unless this fee has been previously paid due to horse being entered in another ‘pot’).

Novice

Open to all riders that have not won over $1,000 barrel racing in their lifetime as of the day of the race, EXCEPT for CURRENT ACBRA Members that have already established their ‘Rookie’ status at membership. Current members will keep their designation for the entire competition year. Entry Fee $25 per day. 4D pay out. No money added. $9 held out for office. NO MEMBER ATTENDANCE WILL BE GIVEN FOR THIS RACE (except for a Junior/Horse combination, see Junior rules). If the horse being ridden in this ‘pot’ is not a member the $5 non-member fee will be required (unless this fee has been previously paid due to horse being entered in another ‘pot’).

Senior

Open to all riders 50 years or older as of 1/1/11. Entry Fee $25 per day. 4D pay out. No money added. $9 held out for office. NO MEMBER ATTENDANCE WILL BE GIVEN FOR THIS RACE. If the horse being ridden in this ‘pot’ is not a member the $5 non-member fee will be required (unless this fee has been previously paid due to horse being entered in another ‘pot’).

PeeWee

Open to all riders 9 years old and UNDER as of the 1/1/11. ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR A HELMET! Entry Fee $10 per day (amended from the first advertizing flyer). 4D pay out. No money added. $3 held out for office. NO MEMBER ATTENDANCE WILL BE GIVEN FOR THIS RACE. If the horse being ridden in this ‘pot’ is not a member the $5 non-member fee will be required (unless this fee has been previously paid due to horse being entered in another ‘pot’).

Junior

Open to all riders 14 years old and UNDER as of 9/1/2011 (as per ACBRA membership application). Entry Fee $25 per day. 4D pay out. No money added. $9 held out for office. NO MEMBER ATTENDANCE WILL BE GIVEN FOR THIS RACE UNLESS THE RIDER/HORSE COMBINATION IS AN ACBRA JUNIOR MEMBER THEN 1 RACE ATTENDANCE WILL BE GIVEN. If the horse being ridden in this ‘pot’ is not a member the $5 non-member fee will be required (unless this fee has been previously paid due to horse being entered in another ‘pot’). IF A JUNIOR MEMBER/HORSE COMBINATION RUNS IN THE OPEN RACE AND DOES NOT ENTER THE JUNIOR SIDE POT, THAT JUNIOR MEMBER/HORSE COMBO WILL RECEIVE TRIPLE ATTENDANCE AND THEIR TIME WILL BE CARRIED OVER WITH ALL THE JUNIOR TIMES TO DECIDE POINTS. IF A JUNIOR MEMBER/HORSE COMBO ONLY ENTERS THE JUNIOR SIDE POT THEY WILL RECEIVE ONE ATTENDANCE AND THEIR TIME WILL BE CARRIED OVER WITH ALL THE JUNIOR TIMES TO DECIDE POINTS. IF AN ELIGIBLE JUNIOR MEMBER/HORSE COMBO ONLY ENTERS THE NOVICE SIDE POT THEY WILL RECEIVE ONE ATTENDANCE AND THEIR TIME WILL BE CARRIED OVER WITH ALL THE JUNIOR TIMES TO DECIDE POINTS. HOWEVER THE MOST ATTENDANCE PER DAY THAT A JUNIOR MEMBER/HORSE COMBO CAN RECEIVE IS THREE! THIS IS REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES THEY ENTER OR RUN.
